Opening of the Exhibition “Continuity of Traditions: The Legacy of the Ancestors” at the Yunus Emre Institute

In celebration of the Republic Day of Kazakhstan, on 30 October 2025, at 18:00, the Yunus Emre Institute will host the opening of the exhibition organised by the Association of Museums of Almaty titled “Continuity of Traditions: The Legacy of the Ancestors.” The event will take place in Amsterdam (Kingdom of the Netherlands).

Thе exhibition is organised with the support of the Akimat of Almaty, in cooperation with the Embassy of Turkish Republic in Yunus Emre Institute and the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The goal of the exhibition is to strengthen cultural ties between Kazakhstan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as well as to introduce European audiences to the rich history and cultural heritage of the Great Steppe, reflecting the worldview and traditional way of life of the Kazakh people.

The exhibition features more than 70 unique artefacts from the collections of the Almaty Museum Association. These include ethnographic artefacts, works of decorative and applied art, photographs, and traditional musical instruments of the Kazakh and Turkic peoples. Each exhibit stands as a testament to the enduring history and traditions passed down through generations.

The Almaty Museum Association holds a special place in the cultural life of Kazakhstan and plays an important role in preserving and promoting the nation's historical heritage. In recent years, the Association has successfully showcased Kazakh culture at a high international level in various countries around the world.

The Association's exhibitions have been held in Seoul (Republic of Korea), Istanbul (Türkiye), Naples (Italy), Vienna (Austria), Prague (Czech Republic), Karcag (Hungary), and Belgrade (Serbia). In June 2025, an exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the great composer Nurgisa Tlendiyev was held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

The exhibition "Continuity of Traditions: The Legacy of the Ancestors" serves as a cultural bridge, introducing the cultural heritage, spiritual values, and art of the Great Steppe to European audiences. It fosters mutual understanding and strengthens cultural ties between nations.
